Flat Earth Society

Peter Vermeersch (bcl), Martí Melià (bcl), Benjamin Boutreur (as), Michel Mast (ts), Bruno Vansina (bc, fl), Bart Maris (tr), Pauline Leblond (tr), Peter Delannoye (tb), Marc Meeuwissen (tb), Berlinde Deman (tuba), Teun Verbruggen (dr), Kristof Roseeuw (db), Peter Vandenberghe (p, keys), Frederik Leroux-Roels (git), Wim Segers (vib). Flat Earth Society (FES), founded in 1999 by composer/clarinettist Peter Vermeersch, is and remains Belgium´s most original and most daring `big band´. Not in the traditional sense of the word, but simply because it consists of fifteen musicians. Although the word `eclectic´ gives them the creeps, it is difficult to describe their exuberant music any other way. FES, who dares to flirt with other disciplines as theatre and film and owns the ability to seduce a number of different audiences, from more select jazz listeners to a wild young rock public, is at its best live on stage. Recordings of the ever-growing FES repertoire are long overdue so the band is catching up with the release of their twentieth album, the double album UNTITLED #0. Once again, every track sounds typically atypical - indeed every type of weather found on the FES planet gets a customised soundtrack. The music was written by Peter Vermeersch and Peter Vandenberghe and recorded at the VRT Toots Studio in 2017. For the mixing and mastering this time FES collaborated with Oz Fritz, known for his work with Tom Waits, Bill Laswell, John Zorn, Herbie Hancock, Ornette Coleman, Iggy Pop, Bob Marley and many others. All under the motto `live is better´: so come and listen to a group of musicians who never manage to give anything less than a hundred per cent! Eintrittspreis: 26.00 EUR / Mitglieder 13.00 EUR
